Joe Giacoletti,Thomas Township Public Safety Firefighter Dies At 50
It is with profound sorrow that Thomas Township Public Safety announces the passing of “Firefighter Joe,” Joe Giacoletti, who departed this life this morning after a courageous battle with a lengthy illness. Joe’s dedication to our community spanned an impressive 23 years, leaving an indelible mark on both the fire department and the lives of countless residents.

Affectionately known as “Firefighter Joe,” he was a familiar and beloved figure, especially to the children he so enthusiastically educated about fire prevention. This passion for teaching was a cornerstone of his distinguished career. Joe began his service in 1999 as a paid-on-call firefighter, rising to a full-time position in 2006. His commitment to Thomas Township and the firefighting profession was unwavering, serving in various ranks and on the Saginaw County Fire Fighters Association Board as secretary.
The bonds of the fire service are often likened to family, a sentiment deeply felt within our department. Joe literally served alongside his brothers, Dean and John, here in Thomas. Beyond his biological kin, Joe was a brother to many within the fire service community. Our deepest sympathies, thoughts, and prayers are extended to his son Zach, mother Zita, sister Heidi, his brothers, and their entire family during this difficult time. Joe’s absence will be keenly felt throughout our larger community. Funeral arrangements will be shared as they become available.
