Ruben Camargo, a 41-year-old man, was tragically killed in a pedestrian crash early Thursday morning in Imperial, California. At the time of the accident, Ruben was staying in Imperial, a small city situated near the border of California and Mexico. His life came to a sudden and devastating halt on the southbound lanes of State Route 86, just north of Aten Road, around 12:30 a.m.

According to reports from the Imperial Police Department, Ruben was walking along SR 86 when he was struck by a GMC Sierra. The impact was severe, and emergency services responded promptly to the scene. First responders administered life-saving measures on Ruben at the roadside before rushing him to El Centro Regional Medical Center. Despite their efforts, Ruben’s injuries were critical, and he was later airlifted to UC San Diego Hillcrest Medical Center. Sadly, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The driver of the GMC Sierra, who remained at the scene and cooperated fully with authorities, was not identified as having any misconduct. Authorities have not released additional details about the circumstances leading to the crash, as the investigation remains ongoing.
