Nichole L. Vanmeter, Strasburg OH, Obituary: In Loving Memory of Nichole L. Vanmeter
Nichole L. Vanmeter was a resident of Strasburg, a small town in Ohio where she lived a life that was soon to be tragically cut short. On the evening of March 20, just after 9:00 p.m., Nichole was involved in a devastating accident that would leave her life forever changed. She was riding her black 2020 Harley Davidson Sportster Iron 883 motorcycle along South Wooster Avenue, heading northwest. At that time, the streets were quiet, and the night was calm, but fate had other plans.

As Nichole approached the intersection near 7th Street SW, a black 2014 Toyota RAV4 driven by Benjamin Cookson was making a left turn onto South Wooster from a private drive. The moment of collision was sudden and tragic. The motorcycle overturned upon impact and struck the vehicle, resulting in fatal injuries for Nichole. Despite her not wearing a helmet, her injuries were severe enough that she was pronounced dead at Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital in Canton.
The accident has left the community in shock, with authorities still investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. Initial reports suggest that impairment was not a factor in the incident, and the police are continuing to gather evidence. Benjamin Cookson, the driver of the Toyota, sustained possible injuries but was able to receive medical attention. The scene was managed by local police, fire services, and Finlayson’s Towing, who assisted in clearing the wreckage.
Nichole’s story is a somber reminder of the dangers faced by motorcyclists and the importance of safety on the road. Her passing has left a void in Strasburg, and the community mourns the loss of a young woman whose life was tragically cut short.
